What is an Occlusal Guard?
Customized occlusal guards are removable devices that fit over teeth to protect them. Guards can be made for the upper arch, the lower arch or both.

Process
Dr. Loukaitis work to ensure a customized outcome for each patient and always schedule an initial consultation before beginning treatment.
- During your first appointment, a thorough occlusal and TMJ evaluation will be completed. Diagnostic impressions will be taken. An MRI may be prescribed to further understand the condition of the joint prior to beginning treatment.
- The following appointment will include MRI evaluation and occlusal guard delivery.
- 1-2 weeks following appliance delivery, a follow-up appointment will be needed to check in and make any necessary adjustments.
- Periodic follow-ups are necessary to check appliance as needed.
